People call. The people who call ask me how I’m doing. They say, “We just want you to know we’re thinking of you,” and “Let us know if there’s anything we can do.” They’re amazed by how well I’m holding up. They say, “If it were us, we don’t know how we’d make it,” and then they shake their heads. I can’t see them shake their heads but I can tell, hear the friction of their heads against the receiver.
